Kimberly has been employed at GF in Altenmarkt since 2018. She decided to do an apprenticeship in the foundry industry at that time because she has a strong technical affinity and was interested in this industry and a job in production. Now she works as a mechatronics technician at MEBA Steuerungstechnik and tells us about the diversity of her everyday work.
Quite diverse. I mainly deal with troubleshooting in control technology, which is very multifaceted. It ranges from reconfiguring an robotics axis to adjusting a sensor. First I perform a fault analysis to find out where the problem is, then fix it and monitor the system for a while to make sure everything is working properly. In this way, I help to keep production running smoothly and make sure that the machines don't have long downtimes.
The support was always very good. I always got help when I needed it with any problem. I also noticed that I was never discriminated being a female trainee.
I would give everyone the tip to specialise. That way, you can train in the field you're interested in and build up skills right from the start. In addition, it is certainly advisable to think and learn right from the start, because then it is much easier later on and you can convince your colleagues with your know-how.
My best moment at GF was when I successfully completed my apprenticeship and was offered a permanent position. Although the training period was great, I was very happy when I passed the final apprenticeship exam. It was very relieving and you could congratulate yourself and say "You've done it". Furthermore, I finished with good results.
I passed my final apprenticeship exam in March 2022 and have been a permanent member of the team since September. I'm excited to see what else is awaiting me!
I like to go for walks. I also count my car among my hobbies.
In our department it works great and you are warmly welcomed. The harmony in the team is just right and in general I would say that I get on well with all my colleagues.
